Howell's Neighborhood Barber Shop
Downtown Barber has served families and generations of Howell in a storefront that has been a barber shop for almost seventy years. Our clients come from all walks of life in this community, and we carry that heritage forward today. We take pride in keeping our shop clean and welcoming. You'll find coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies on the counter, and every child leaves with a lollipop. People come here for a good haircut and the relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
Since 2018 we have given the shop a full renovation with a modern vintage look, while keeping everything a classic barber shop should have, from a good chair and a hot towel to a barber who remembers your cut.

Scissor haircut, regular cut or crew cut.
Fade
Regular fade, flat top, or military high and tight.
Skin Fade
Bald and low skin fade or skin taper haircut, for men, boys and children.

Scissor haircut, regular cut, crew cut or fade.
Senior Citizen (Men 65+)
Scissor haircut, flat top, crew cut, or military high and tight.
Deluxe Beard Trim
Beard trim followed by a straight razor finish with hot lather and steamed towels.
Men's Haircut and Deluxe Beard Trim
A men's haircut plus the deluxe beard trim, finished with a straight razor, hot lather and steamed towels.
Straight Razor Shave
A great close shave with hot lather and a steamed towel, plus neck shave and edging of the sideburns.

Howell wraps completely around Farmingdale. Geographers call that a doughnut town, and it means our shop on Main Street sits inside Howell on every side. The township was far larger once. When it was formed in 1801 it took in what is now Wall Township, Lakewood, Brick and every borough along the ocean from Barnegat Inlet up to Belmar. Marl was dug out of the Manasquan River here from 1830 and shipped to farms across the state.
Our storefront has been a barber shop for almost seventy years of that history. Same street, same trade, same room.
