Ramtown's Neighborhood Barber Shop
For almost seventy years, Downtown Barber has served our clients from Ramtown. We keep our shop clean and friendly. The chairs are always ready, and the floor is swept. We've built relationships from grandfather to son to grandson. Grandfathers come in for their usual scissor trim. Sons get a sharp skin fade. Moms bring their kids in for a first real haircut. Three generations of the same family often sit in our chairs.
Styles change from one generation to the next, but the care we put into every cut doesn't. A sharp skin fade, a clean taper, a scissor cut done properly. This is our family barber shop.
Can’t say enough good things about Downtown Barber. I’ve been bringing my 3 year old son here for a little over a year now. After a glowing recommendation from a friend we decided to switch from a “kids hair salon” to come here. It was the best decision we made for hair cuts. Elvin always has the most patience and never makes us feel like cutting hair even on a squirmy toddler is a chore. Now that we’re regulars, my son gets excited when it’s hair cut day! We went from crying/screaming in the chair to sitting still(most of the time) and smiling when getting a hair cut. We don’t let anyone else touch his hair now and we always give Downtown Barber as a recommendation to our friends with young boys.

Serving Ramtown from a Seventy Year Old Barber Shop
Ramtown is older than it looks. Howell Township lists it among its earliest settlement areas, alongside Squankum, Ardena and Freewood Acres, names that were on the map long before the neighborhoods were. Howell itself was formed in 1801 out of Shrewsbury, and pieces of it later became Brick, Wall Township and Farmingdale. Further south, near Squankum Yellowbrook Road, the Manasquan Paleo-Indian site is one of the oldest known settlement areas in eastern North America.
Our storefront in Farmingdale has been a barber shop for almost seventy years. A short run of that history, but the same street and the same trade the whole way through.
